DAY 1 : SUN CITY

Guests will be met on arrival at the O R Tambo International Airport and transferred to the Sun City Resort located two hours from Johannesburg in the North West province - the starting point of the 14 Day Five Star Family Tour. Sun City was developed by the hotel magnate Sol Kerzner and officially opened on 7 December 1979. At the time of its opening, it was located in Bophuthatswana. As Bophuthatswana had been declared an independent state by South Africa's apartheid government, it was allowed to provide "immoral" entertainment (in the eyes of the South African government) such as gambling - which was banned in South Africa. These factors, as well as its relatively close location to Pretoria and Johannesburg, ensured that Sun City soon became a popular holiday and weekend destination. It is the ideal place to begin a luxury family tour of South Africa. The afternoon is spent at leisure enjoying the many entertainment options at Sun City.

DAY 2 : SUN CITY

The day is spent at leisure exploring the resort with its various activities. The Sun City Resort is aptly named "Africa's Kingdom of Pleasure", as it provides dazzling entertainment for everyone. The resort features glamorous casinos, gourmet restaurants, extensive sports facilities and star-studded performances. From slots to safaris, theater extravaganzas to the games arcade for children, horse riding to golf, and the Valley of Waves to the Lost City, Sun City offers a mind-blowing experience.

DAY 3 : SUN CITY

The day is spent at leisure. Sun City adventure activities offer guests a range of new and exciting experiences. Enter unknown territory at the outdoor adventure center and allow your adrenalin to start pumping. Elephant-back riding, quad biking, archery and clay pigeon shooting are some of the activities on offer to guests.

DAY 4 : MADIKWE GAME RESERVE

After breakfast, guests will be met and transferred to the Madikwe Private Game Reservebordering Botswana . The reserve is situated between the Kalahari sandveld and the northern bushveld, hosting both ecosystems. Due to the diversity of vegetation and eco-zones, it ensures a wide variety of game and bird life. An afternoon game drive will provide guests with the opportunity to experience the area i n search of the Big Five and other species.

DAY 5 : MADIKWE GAME RESERVE

The re-introduction of game began early in 1991, shortly before the perimeter fence had been completed. Operation Phoenix was the largest game translocation exercise in the world, with more than 8 000 animals of 28 species being released into the reserve. The area is now home to elephant, leopard, rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, spotted hyena, giraffe, zebra and many species of antelope and herbivores. Two game drives and a bush walk will bring guests close to the various animals , offering an unforgettable experience.

DAY 6 : MADIKWE GAME RESERVE

Early morning and late afternoon game drives in this unique area are the focus of the day. Enjoy a variety of sightings, from the graceful elephant that embodies Africa in its own mysterious way, to the rare black rhino - smaller than the white, but notorious for its unpredictable temperament. The big cats and a large number of different grassland game species afford a glimpse of Africa in all her glory. The focus is on interpretive game viewing, with the ranger enhancing guests' understanding of the animals through their knowledge of the habits and behavior of the different species.

DAY 7 : PRETORIA

A short charter flight will return guests to the O R Tambo International Airport, where they will be met and transferred to their hotel. If time allows, guests will enjoy a short tour of South Africa's capital city - Pretoria. The Union Buildings, with its commanding views of the city, will be on the agenda. The building currently houses the office of the South African president. Designed by the famous British architect Sir Herbert Baker, it is regarded as one of the country's architectural masterpieces.

DAY 8 : GARDEN ROUTE

After breakfast, guests are transferred to the airport. A flight of just under two hours will bring them to the town of George, where they will be met by their guide and make their way past Knysna to the town of Plettenberg Bay. En route a visit is made to the Knysna Elephant Sanctuary . The sanctuary provides a safe haven for African elephants and offers interactive elephant experiences. Experience the famous Knysna forest alongside the African elephants on a guided nature walk through the fynbos at an elephant pace. The tour then makes its way to the overnight destination of Plettenberg Bay.

DAY 9 : GARDEN ROUTE

After breakfast, guests will visit Monkeyland and the Birds of Eden Sanctuary. The Birds of Eden is the world's largest dome, spanning two hectares over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin behind a waterfall. The sanctuary's dome incorporates the ability to synthesize thunder and create short spells of rain from an irrigation system in the dome structure. Roofed viewpoints within the gorge have been erected for use during these brief rain storms. Like Monkeyland, Birds of Eden boasts its own canopy walk. Monkeyland is the world's first free-roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary and aims to create awareness about the plight of primates to show that, with a greater understanding of our primate cousins, we can all live in harmony.

After a relaxing lunch, guests will enjoy a boat cruise departing from the Plettenberg Bay Harbor. The Discovery Cruise will typically provide guests with the opportunity to look for dolphins and visit the seal colony on the Robberg Peninsula. During the whale season (May to November), guests will have an opportunity to get within a couple of feet of some of the largest creatures on the planet when they board the Premium Cruise.

DAY 10 : GARDEN ROUTE

The day is spent at leisure relaxing on one of the fine beaches in the area. Nature lovers will be enchanted by the beautiful fynbos, which attracts a wide variety of birds and butterflies, and magnificent views of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains surrounding the area.

DAY 11 : CAPE TOWN

On this day of the luxury family tour, guests will return to George, where they will board a flight departing for South Africa's 'Mother City' of Cape Town. Guests will be met at Cape Town International and we will devote the afternoon to visiting Table Mountain, which forms part of the Table Mountain National Park . The mountain is a prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town . The cable car will take guests all the way to the top from where they will enjoy spectacular views of the Cape Peninsula, Robben Island and Lion's Head. Guests will then be assisted with check-in at their hotel.

DAY 12 : CAPE TOWN

Breakfast is followed by a tour to Cape Point via Chapman's Peak . The road, starting in Hout Bay and ending in Noordhoek, hugs the near-vertical face of Chapman's Peak, offering guests spectacular views of the ocean and Hout Bay. From Noordhoek, the road leads to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, where guests can amble through this beautiful indigenous area. Initially Cape Point was mistaken to be the place where the cold Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean and the warm Agulhas current of the Indian Ocean collided, however the actual point is further up the coast close to Cape Agulhas. On the way back, a stop is made at Boulders Beach. Today over 3 000 African penguins make the area their home, with their nests hidden in the thick beach vegetation.

DAY 13 : CAPE TOWN

A 40 minute drive will take guests to the heart of the South African wine-producing area. Guests will visit the Spier Wine Estate. Parents will enjoy the opportunity to taste some of South Africa's finest wines while the kids will have the opportunity to step into an enclosure with a tame cheetah. Spier is also home to the Eagle Encounters Raptors Rehabilitation Center. Watch how ancient falconry techniques are used to train them to hunt. We return to Cape Town during the late afternoon.

DAY 14 : DEPARTURE

A morning visit is made to the Two Oceans Aquarium. The Two Oceans Aquarium on the V&A Waterfront showcases the incredible diversity of marine life found in the Indian and Atlantic oceans. With over 3 000 living sea animals, including sharks, fish, turtles and penguins, guests will experience one of the finest marine life collections in the world. After the aquarium visit, guests are transferred to Cape Town International Airport, for a flight back to their country of origin.
