DAY 1 : GARDEN ROUTE

It is off to an early start as the tour makes its way northeast en route to the scenic Garden Route. The tour crosses over the imposing Sir Lowry's Pass and traverses the apple-producing regions surrounding the town of Grabouw before reaching Swellendam, set at the foot of the Langeberge. The town boasts some fine architecture and has historical significance. Some time devoted to exploring Swellendam is followed by an onward journey to Knysna, set in the heart of the Garden Route.

DAY 2 : GARDEN ROUTE

The day is devoted to exploring the scenic beauty of the Garden Route. First on the agenda isthe Featherbed Nature Reserve , which is reached via a ferry crossing over the Knysna Lagoon. The reserve is located on one of Knysna's famous heads, overlooking the lagoon and the Indian Ocean. It is home to two of the Garden Route's icons, namely the small blue duiker and the Knysna Loerie. Some time for lunch is then followed by a walk in the Knysna forest with its imposing yellowwood trees.

DAY 3 : GARDEN ROUTE

Crossing the Outeniqua Mountains, the Garden Route tour travels to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. A visit is made to the Cango Caves , classified as a natural wonder of the world. It is amongst the world's largest cave systems, traveling kilometers into the limestone of the Swartberg mountain range. After exploring the caves, some time is allotted to lunch after which we visit a local ostrich farm. Here an informative tour about the largest of the world's birds is conducted. Guests will have the opportunity to hand feed ostriches and the brave can even endeavor an ostrich ride. Following the visit to the ostrich farm, the tour makes its way back to the overnight destination.

DAY 4 : DEPARTURE

After an early breakfast, the tour will slowly make its way back to Cape Town via the National Highway. During the boom years of ostrich farming, Mossel Bay was a major export port of ostrich feathers and products to Europe and the USA. In Mossel Bay we visit the Bartholomew Diaz Museum, which marks the spot of the historical landing of Diaz, and a 500-year-old post office tree. The Maritime Museum houses a replica of the caravel on which Diaz arrived. The caravel arrived in Mossel Bay in 1987, a gift from the government of Portugal. Another highlight is a map of Mossel Bay produced by early Dutch sailor, Cornelis de Houtman, in 1595. The tour then follows the scenic coastal route via the towns of Hermanus and Kleinmond back to Cape Town. In Cape Town, guests are transferred to any location of their choice after a memorable Garden Route tour.
